Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Sophia, you are a very good friend.

The Cocktail Party Physics blog has an interview with the author of The Physics of NASCAR: How To Make Steel + Gas + Rubber = Speed. It's pretty interesting. The author talks about how she was essentially embedded in a NASCAR team to learn stuff....
Shiny!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

So if you have a wedding, people are always worried that they will offend someone. However, you don't expect that if you don't let people in to your reception that they will come back and shoot up the party. And I really don't think it should happen two streets away from my house. the entire city police force was here last night, plus the gang task force. Charming.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jaysus, Beth. That's terrible.

Sounds like a lot of good advice you've gotten there, Sophia. I hope your friend can turn it around.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Damn, beth.

In apparently minor crime news, I guess the deli I like got robbed yesterday morning, because when I went to go in there at 12:30, cops told me the store was closed. But then it was open again later in the afternoon, so I assume it was nothing too major, or anything against the owner or something.

You guys, for the first time in years I just got a Friday NYTimes crossword puzzle 100% correct without looking anything up. Could I be ready to attack Saturdays?? (If you don't know, they get progressively harder, Mon-Sat. Sunday is bigger, but not as hard as Friday, usually.)

I used to not suck at crosswords. I envy you greatly, Jesse.

I'm at bedbathandbeyond.com. I need a new pot. Simple enough. I'm trying to browse to something similar to what I'm retiring. Alors! What is this? Braisers/Everyday Pans? Whose day is this every? What am I missing?

I know what I need is something like this (haven't decided between non-stick or non-non-stick yet). But I wonder about these cooks and their every days of which I know not.
