I don't like vampires. I'm gonna take a stand and say they're not good.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I'm pretty sure car insurance follows the car, not the driver, usually.

Huh. For some reason, I always thought the onus was first on the insured driver, and then on the insured car.

eta: but then, I came from a state with such lax insurance reqs at the time, odds were that most of the other drivers and cars were uninsured and it could be a nightmare. So I'm probably a bad source.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I expect this is going to be a question for your insurance agent to answer, alas, because it is so state- and policy- specific. Good luck!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I think the driver/car thing varies by state.

It's confusing--and rental cars are covered on your regular car insurance. But as Theo notes, it is state and policy specific.

I thought it weird because Wisconsin doesn't require proof-of-insurance for car registration. I think it's not until you get in a wreck without coverage that you can get into any trouble.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

FRI de-ornamenting tree

My poor brain read that as defragmenting the tree. Apparently my subconscious is being taken over by a computer.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm still in my pyjamas. Oy.

I'm going to Cirque du Soleil with my parents, & then out to dinner. Tomorrow it's a movie with Buffistas, yay!

At some point I will do some writing. And maybe go to the gym, since I can't run outside in this weather. Well, I mean, I could, but I don't like to be soaked all that much.

Muni's shut down? OY. Glad I'm driving, and I have 4wd.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

My office is freezing and there is (a) no work to be done, and (b) nobody to either (i) give me some work or (ii) tell me it's okay to go home. Bleargh.

The drive to Matilda's day care this morning was insane -- most of the traffic lights running along the north border of Golden Gate Park were out, and all the eucalyptus trees (and many of the other varieties) had been stripped of all their bark and most of their branches, so the street was hubcap-deep in tree debris (and one Christmas tree that someone had left out on the sidewalk for recycling, snatched up by the wind and dropped in the middle of an intersection).

I'm glad the other localistas are okay, except now I'm worried about how megan's housemate will cope with the deprivation. Maybe he can sneak off to a West Portal coffee house and steal some electricity from them? (Unless the whole neighborhood is dark?)
