You two carried me through that war. Now I need you to carry me just a little bit further. If you can.

Do manacles count as a toy for each separate limb, or is the set as a whole regarded as one complex toy?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I just saw this over at Cosmic Variance.

Get Human.

How to get to a human on those horrible "customer service" lines.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Star Wars Rejected Promotional Crap Could Have Changed the Universe Forever

Here's another set of stunning, but rejected, Star Wars merchandise. These amazing examples of human genius go from a mini-fridge with Han Solo frozen in carbonite as its door to a Death Star BBQ, actual Leia's hair headphones and even an AT-AT chair caddy to hold your magazines, snacks and Pepsi—the marketing masterminds proposed all these gadgets—next to your favorite sofa. The best ones are frightening, yet irresistible.

Supposedly these are all real concepts considered by Lucasfilm and Pepsi....

McKinnon said he wouldn't campaign against Obama because he said the same thing six months ago; that's why it came up. This is the original interview: [link]

"If the Democratic nominee is Barack Obama, I will not work in the general election. I will, however, still support and vote for John McCain. I just don't want to work against an Obama candidacy," McKinnon said.
He also said that if anyone besides McCain got the GOP nomination, he'd have no problem voting for Obama.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The last time I was calling credit bureaus, those prompts still mostly didn't work. FYI. I think my best bet with those was trying "technical assistance" or something, because that would get me to a person who could transfer me.

Giuliani deep 'in the hole' over campaign debts

“We are deeper in the hole than I thought we would be,” wrote John Gross, the campaign’s treasurer, in an e-mail message to several senior campaign aides obtained by the Times.

“Windown is likely to be less than projected, but travel expenses are higher,” Gross added. “We cannot prefer any one creditor. We probably could make a 10% payment to all qualified creditors at this point, but probably not much more.”

Heh. Giuliani should just call up his creditors and yell "9-11!" at them until they agree to take less money.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I think McKinnon is taking a stance, while potentially costing him his job, that is oddly principled.

I think lots of people who go into politics do it from a place of strongly held principles, especially among staff members. Then, the day to day drudgery of the job and the necessary compromises probably sucks the passion away.

It's rare, though, to see action on those principles and I have to say I kind of admire McKinnon for it.

I just can't figure out what those principles are that would have you divided between Obama and McCain. Unless one of them is a blood relation, it just makes no sense.
