I started today by falling down my icy front stairs (my concrete front stairs). As I said at the time, "AIEEEEFUCK!"
I didn't twist or break anything or pull my poor dog down with me but I have big bruises on my ass and ankle. OW!
Fortunately the back of my house wasn't icy at all so I could walk the dog out that way and leave for work. I had to come to work today because I had a 9 am meeting with my boss which I thought was just going to be him checking in with how I was doing in general but actually was an extensive conversation about the exteremly rude programmer who is the main person I work with (who I know I've complained about at length here). Conversation included psychoanalyzing the him and his twin brother who also works here. Fascinating! My boss is concerned that programmer's rudeness will drive me away. And they want to keep me. Good to know!
Okay, everyone needs to STOP falling down and STOP getting sick. You're alarming me.
I almost fell on the bus -- something I've never done. But somehow it must have caught me at exactly the wrong moment and I almost went crowd-surfing.
Also, someone smelled like poo. I'm hoping it isn't me. The cat wasn't very happy last night, and I had to keep my roommate from flipping out and finding an emergency clinic.
Last night a bus driver tried to warn me not to get too close to the bus until it came to a complete stop - he was a afraid the bus was gonna slide sideways into me as he was braking to a stop.
Also, I need boots with better traction. Now that there's a fresh layer of snow on everything, it's hard to tell if there's ice under the snow or not.

Did you see that horrifying video on the news yesterday of the girl getting her bike off the rack? Whitefonted for the squeamish:
driver forgot she was there and just drove over her, dragging her for 80 feet or something before passersby flagged him down. And of course the whole thing on the security camera.
I am so done with winter. DONE.

AUGH.
So glad I don't own a bike.

Jesus! Is she still alive???
Oh, and once I had to move to a different car of a train because of the incredibly strong poo smell. A lot of homeless people ride the Red line, because it's such a long line it gives them time to sleep between having to get off and change trains at the end of the line. Almost every Red line train that pulls into Howard has sleeping homeless people on it, so the CTA folk have to wake them up and get them off the train before the train can turn around to go South again.
No. No she is not. It was on the news because her family is suing the city. Seriously, it's horrid - you see her get off the bus and go around front and then....well, then you see what happens next. I was kind of shocked they even showed it.
