Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Thank you for the birthday wishes, everyone!

I managed to take a half-day off, and now I'm going to vote to celebrate!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Except most people who show up aren't persuadable.

I did persuade on woman to switch from uncommitted to Obama, once she realized that mathematically she could not elect an uncommitted delegate from our precinct. The Clinton person gave the "ready from day one speech". I said that Obama was my third choice, that if domestic issues were my primary concern Clinton was probably better, but that on war and peace, there was real observable space between them. Both support a far more aggressive foreign policy than I do, but use of force seems to be much higher on Clinton's list than Obama's. I said that was especially true if you counter Bill's record in office as Hillary's as Hillary supporters appear to do. I added that on electability that in my opinion Obama gave better speeches, did better photo Ops, but that Clinton was better in debate and under hostile questioning. So I think I was fair. Not that everyone will agree with my opinions, but I was honest about what I could see for the Clinton side

I know people make arguments from their pre-elected office records that Clinton and Obama will be more progressive than they appear now, but I don't think any President since Roosevelt has governed to the left of the platform they ran on.

I had a breakfast burrito for lunch (and, um, breakfast), and am about to head down the hill and find out if the road over the highway north of me actually has a sidewalk or not. I'm really hoping it does, cause it would save me like, a mile of walking to this temp job. (I already know the one south of me does, but...the job is north!)

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I had some left over Indian food. It's not chicken tikka masala, but it's got everything that does, plus cashews and raisins.

I'm now having a small salad (mixed field greens, with small bits of grated aged gouda, real bacon pieces, dried cranberries and cheese & garlic croutons) with Newman's light Italian dressing, which I really, really like.

Both are of the nom nom nom.

Hopefully without the peanut butter, lisah!

My ballot had a special treat for me: an uncomitted option. I could've voted for none of the above!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I wish I had a pants-stapler and a root.

A pants-stapler and a root once bit my sister.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I am having hot & spicy shrimp with fried rice and wonton soup. It's good, but they may have been a little oversealous about the hot & spicy part—my lips are stinging. I bet some of the heat will have faded when I have the leftovers for dinner, though.
