Skipping lots to post that, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is KristinT's birthday.
Happy birthday, Kristin! With lots of wishes for a great day and a wonderful year!
Also, it's not on the Calendar, but IIRC they are birthday-sisters, so today is also MFNlaw's birthday, so, Maria, all the best wishes for you, as well!
Happy Birthday Kristin!
Happy Birthday MFNlaw!
I couldn't decide to post this in the Non-Fiction thread or the Music thread, so I'll post it here: [link]
The Toronto Star reported Monday that NBC has acquired exclusive rights to launch 10 episodes of a proposed television show called Rockstar Curling.
Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi, apparently closet curlers, are among the megastar rockers being courted to host it.
Boy, the strike really did make them desperate, didn't it?
In better strike-related news, the Enrico Colantonio Canadian cop series is being picked up stateside. Better yet, the second lead is Hugh Dillon.
Happy birthday, Kristin-n-Maria!!
That Rockstar Curling thing sounds like something out of the Onion.
I heard about that on the radio this morning. The sports guy commented that he hoped the writers' strike was over.
I reviewed the Manga Bible already, but I have to hold onto the review for a little while longer because they asked no reviews be released before the release date.
The whole samurai shick is about the style, the approach of the character Jesus in this adaptation. Not that he whips out any katanas and goes all badass.
I thought of it as only an average adaptation. On the upside, it does spend a decent amount of time adapting the Acts of the Apostles and discusses the Letters, books that are usually overlooked. But it's adaptation of the Old Testament lacks context and hits too many things too briefly. Israeli and the Jews go from being the favored people and nation, to being punished by God, back to being favored again, all in the span of 4-5 pages. This goes on for @30-40 pages. While accurate to the later sections of the Old Testament, as an adaptation it fails to engage the reader.
I may have to root for the beagle for BIS at Westminster tonight.
I would watch Rockstar Curling.
I am also primary-ing today. I have to figure out if I can vote in the building I'm in all day, or if I have to drive out to my district voting area to vote.
