Yay for laser surgery! I'm waiting a few more years until my middle-age eye change is locked in before I go messing around.
Natter 56: ...we need the writers.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Wow! So... you were awake when they scrubbed your retina or something, right? I really can't get over the "conscious" part of that procedure. Go you!
They do numb your eyes. Most of the procedure you can't tell what they're doing, but they need you awake (at least for this type) because you have to focus while they're doing part of the procedure. The only things I could tell what they were doing without being told is when they were sort of cleaning my eye off, and when they lifted the flap, my vision changed. But for most of it you're staring at either a light or the bubbles they create under your cornea, which is grey.
ETA: also I got a Xanax to calm me.
It can't rival the Hawaii Chair, but this is pretty cool.

I suppose we'd have to get off on LJ and walk.
Dear Boss,
The reason you can't paste into that email is that it is an email you received. You can't alter it in any way. If you want to main something to the faculty, you must start a new email to the faculty, and then add content. At least you had the grace to realize you were being an idiot when I discovered the problem.
Signed, having a rough morning because our entire IM service was wiped from the server, and I just reinstalled it from scratch with the help of the woman from UNC, because the person whose job it is might be induced this morning.
Interesting analysis of the WWII-era Minnesota Starvation Study, thought of it in context of our Pollen-inspired discussion of the other day:
Congratulations, bon!
Flea, except when you can. I don't remember the full extent of editing we could do in Notes, but like Outlook at my current job, Notes at my previous one would let you delete attachments. Notes at least embedded the name of the deleted file in the email, but with Outlook here it's just like it had never existed, and it makes tracing information chains to their roots kinda tricky.
eta: of course, any of those edits aren't reflected in anyone else's inbox.
Vortex should know that I made stew with chicken thighs last night, and it was delicious. Will make again.
There is just no reason for today to exist.
Right there with you.

glad you liked it! I'm going to make a big pot of chicken chili this weekend, so I'm sure I'll have the recipe for you.
Entertainment Weekly has a fluff piece on 30 Dead TV Shows You'd Revive. A lot of Buffista favorites on that list, including three separate Tim shows.
I agreed with the vast majority, and can see the arguments for most of the rest. I do think they should have just made it 29 shows if they couldn't think of anything better than Kindred: The Embraced for #30, though.
