DH is planning on getting Irish citizenship at some point, and I'm pretty sure there's no problem with having that and his American citizenship.
Yeah, Tom would never give up his UK citizenship- for a long time he thought he'd have to and had no plans to apply for US citizenship, but he found out that was not the case a couple years ago. I think he has to have his green card for a certain number of years first, though- maybe 4 years?
What was the rationale for requiring people to give up their original citizenship to get an American one?

Man, I'd forgotten about 8th graders. Mostly, they sit there like a lump while I give my spiel, but there are always a couple girls giggling in the back, making me worry I've spilled coffee down my front or left my fly open or something.
