Natter 56: ...we need the writers.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Heh. Well, even when I was making next to no money, in college doing work-study, or after college temping, somehow I have never lived paycheck to paycheck. Honestly, I don't even budget, really...I mean, I know that my actual bills (rent, insurance, utilities) are less than my pay, and I guess I just...spent less when I made less? I dunno. I think I never bought clothes in college. These days I buy lots more clothes.
But thinking about that and feeling oddly guilty about it and then reading the "go send Buffistas money" means I just did. :) Yay guilt!
Ooh, thanks for the heads up, ita! I shall watch, or rather, set the TiVo up to do it's magic stuff.
I keep telling the higher ups at krav that they have to sell the fact that it works for smaller women. *I* know it works for the smaller sex, but I never viewed it skeptically or with fear. Or for self defense, honestly.
They tend to show off with the biggest guys. Why in gods name would I be convinced by a fight system this guy finds effective? I wager he finds everything, up to and including badminton effective self defense. I am more interested in what she can use.
Did they take what I said to heart? Tune in this weekend to be sure, but it's basically an escalating arms race (no pun intended). Some nice arms, though.
It's pretty common for people to come into the library and say, "I was using this book, about X. I can't remember the title or author. It's blue..."
(When we find it, the book is invariably about Y, and red, of course.)
Actually, flea, there's this cookbook I'm looking for--it's about flavour combinations you wouldn't have thought worked and it's a pale colour, maybe green and it has like a sliced open lotus/artichoke on the cover, and I really want another copy.
True story.
On the other hand, I've been up too long. Think I'm seeing things. It has been over 24 hours. Gotta catch a bit of rest before Saturday starts.
I organize my books by height.
Organizing books by size means that you can fit more of them on the shelves, and lots of closed-stack libraries do this. It's what I do here at home, since we're always short of shelf space.
I do mostly size, but when I can put James Joyce next to Dorothy Parker, I will. I like to see 'em fight.
The two factors that tipped me from always having a cushion to living paycheck to paycheck are 1) daycare and 2) mortgage. Ironic, huh? I mean, slowly we are building up a bit of a cushion again, but it will take the kids entering elem school (and aftercare vs daycare) for us to really start saving again.
