Was the San Francisco Tiger Provoked?
The first word I heard of any possible provocation was from Jack Hannah, who said that it would be impossible for the tiger to leap that wall (since discovered to be 4 feet below the standard recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums) unaided and speculated about the victims taunting the tiger and perhaps helping it escape by putting a board in the moat. Which no one found any evidence of. (Don't ask me how dropping a board into a dry moat 12.5 feet below would help the tiger escape... maybe Jack thinks Tatiana propped it up against the top of the wall, climbed out, and then stopped to burn it before mauling the zoogoers?)
I remain skeptical.
