Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

We're having frozen pizza with a salad, because it's quick and easy. I have writers group at 6:30 on Mondays, so dinner has to be on the table by 6:00, which limits our options when neither DH nor I gets home much before 5:30.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I declared Mondays and Wednesday night crock pot nights since those are nights I have class.

Wednesday's meal will be chicken, rice, broccoli, and cheese casserole.

I don't suppose you could just pop up for the day, and spend the rest of the weekend at VVC.

For a cousin, I could probably get away with that. For my brother? I'm thinking no.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Tonight I'm trying those tofu based noodles that Hungry Girl says are good. With some sort of sauce, or maybe just butter, I am not feeling ambitious about it at all.

Tell us how those are, I've been wondering. My hunch is that, like a lot of whole wheat pastas, they'll do better as noodles for some Asiany than for a traditional spaghetti preparation where you won't be comparing them quite so directly. But I'd like to give them a shot for sure.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

For a cousin, I could probably get away with that. For my brother? I'm thinking no.

your brother sucks. hmph.

Okay, fine, it's his wedding. He doesn't suck. t sniffle

Oh, my god, I'm going to have to find someone to room with.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Thanks for all the advice regarding the Master's.

I figure that what I'll do is stop at Vroman's for a GRE book, and take the test. Then gather up all the stuff I need for the application process, apply, and make a decision if I get in.

At the very least, I have a year to get it all done and give a lot of thought to what I want to do with the rest of my life.

I'd like to do crockpot meals more often on evenings when one of us has something after work, but I've had trouble finding good recipes. The meat always seems to get this weird not exactly dry but still sawdusty texture.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

what I want to do with the rest of my life

That's a really good question, and I hope I'm not supposed to have an answer.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Susan, I tend to use pre-cooked chicken or sausage-type meats for my crockpot stuff. Usually I'll take half-frozen chicken breasts, cube them, and brown them and then add them to the pot in the morning.

I also use a lot of stock and water. Especially with cream based soups as those tend to do wierd things to the meats.
