Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I need to check out Persuasion on MPT! I think I may have seen the production before, though.

It was different than the 1995 one I've seen before. I didn't like it as much. ROILING AND UNSPOKEN EMOTION, PEOPLE!!!!

(But ASH was marvelous. He give such good toff.)

Just tuned in to Extreme Makeover Home Edition, where Ty Pennigton outfitted a family's new house with a bowling alley, homeschooling classroom for both kids, and a Secret of Nimh-themed bedroom complete with agiant dragon for the 12-year-old boy. That kid is NEVER getting laid.

Heh. I've heard most of the families end up having to sell the houses anyway. Taxes are a bitch.

[Edit: hmm... wikipedia does not back that up]

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

sarameg, I love those photos, both the ones of you and the ones of the sibs. What a wonderful thing for her as well as for you.

Also? Kat is just lovely IMO and she takes great pictures.

What did I do today? Weeding, tons of weeding. I don't know why. I went in the backyard to supervise the kids, and then suddenly I went all OCD on the weeds.

hip deep in pie

With watching Persuasion, I forgot all about the Golden Globes. Must go and see who won.

There were parts of this production of Persusaion that I liked, but I think it didn't overcome my attachment to the Ciarain Hinds/Amanda Root version. Besides, I hate it when they forget that Jane Austen has humor in it.

I felt like we had little subtext and everything was so very very spoken.

I really loved the portrayal of sister Mary. And ASH was wonderful.

But the running, running, running, running, running, running, running, running, running, ki..............................................ss was painful.

Enjoy it Burrell, a lot of it was lovely and I, too, may be too attached to the 1995 version.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I cringed at the kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis, but I loved that she was gasping and panting all through the big emo scene.

I was so happy that the two of them in the cafe in bath before the cousin burst in was the torment it ought to be.

those two really need to learn to not have important discussions right in front of doors. that foiled them about nineteen times

Has anyone read the book? Does she sail of on a ship in the end?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I read the book at least twice, so I have no fear of the whitefont. No worries.

So far my only complaint is that Anne looks directly at the camera too much. It's starting to feel like shtick. But I do like how well the capture the deliciousness of the angst and the brief but meaningful touches and looks.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Feh. I can't find out if my school is cancelled or not. I'll call after 8:30 (when it formally opens) and find out for sure.

ETA: I emailed the instructor, and we're DEFINITELY closed, so yay on not having to do a hairy and long commute.
