Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I haven't sung a solo since I was 18 or so.

And I'm not sure it counts as an honor when I volunteered to do it! I wanted to try it because it's a roots/Southern gospel piece ("Down to the River to Pray"). I figured I'm the only Southerner in the choir, I grew up on music like that in church, etc. Only I don't think I sound Southern when I sing it. Just squeaky, full of stage fright, and wishing the thing was written in A or B instead of D.

Good luck, Susan!

Weekend plans...hmmm...well, I didn't do any of the work I was supposed to, today. So, probably some of that. I'm debating if I feel up to going two-stepping tonight--I really want to, because I love it, but I'm feeling achey and slow.

And I think I need to go to the DMV and finally switch over my info, tomorrow. If I can get up in the morning. This would be one of the reasons to not go dancing tonight...

Tomorrow evening, a swing dance class, and if I can find people to go, there's a new dyke dance party (like, hip hop and pop, none of this silly actual steps business).

We'll see. I just discovered a place two blocks from me that I knew did coffee also does savory crepes. Today's special was pumpkin, sage, and chevre. It sounded yummy. I may have to try one this weekend. Possibly get some pho.

Also, I have a lot of cookies in my kitchen that I made last night and dont' want to eat by myself. Hrm.

I'm cooking tomorrow. Grocery shopping. Hanging with Noah and Grace. Yoga with the baby. The usual sort of weekend.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Cool weekend, Kat.

I wrinkle my nose in distaste at my hot chocolate. It's chocolate syrup and hot milk. Which is too sweet. Doesn't anyone use cocoa anymore?

Jamaicans have some weird version of hot chocolate which I dearly love. Not sweet by default, and often bitter. When I was last there I asked for some at the breakfast buffet, and it turned out they were giving me the staff hot chocolate from in the back.

I'd like to cook this weekend. Maybe I'll get groceries on the way home.

But I probably won't. It'll be a win if I eat dinner period.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

So what are people doing this weekend?

I'm spinstering it this weekend - DH is off to see his mom for her birthday. Tonight I'm gonna kick back with my leftover stew and a glass of wine and relax. Sunday I'm going to San Carlos for a travel fair of some sort. I'm not sure what that's all about, but I'm taking the train there and back, so that'll be fun. tomorrow, I don't know. Maybe cleaning the bathroom and unpacking some more. Maybe I will get my ass the synagogue I keep thinking of as "mine" even though I haven't actually been there.

I got myself a bathing suit and am debating where to try to swim. there's a Y a couple of miles from my house, but I don't know if I want to join if I'm only going to swim once a week, but maybe it would make me go more often? There's a public pool a little farther away, but I believe it is closed for the winter. And about half an hour away there's a gym I know of that has a pool and daily rate of something reasonable like $6. I should probably go check them out in person rather than speculating myself to death, huh?

I'm proud of you for singing the solo, Susan. I hope you enjoy it, since you love the song.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just remembered I can get hot and sour soup on the corner, so add that to my weekend plans.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just remembered I'm bussing home tonight, and that means I get off right by two Italian places...

But first I have to get through a meeting with the boss. Was supposed to be 4:30-5:30, but he had to delay by half an hour.

I'm so sleepy...
