I kinda resented mom for not helping me more with applications-particularly financial aid, but I went to college, so I guess I was able to do it. Now, I'm so glad she made me do it myself. I can't imagine asking mom to do something for me after age 16 unless it was dire and required an adult.
I had a similar mom, and I feel the same way. I am glad my mother made me self-sufficient, as several of my peers who did not do their own homework on college requirements did not get to graduate on time because they did not get the proper advice from their advisors, but I just took it upon myself to figure things out and I did. (To be fair, it was a really obscure requirement that said you had to have a certain amount of classes considered "liberal arts" to graduate, but theatre and music were not considered liberal arts, so if you were a theatre major who took music electives, you were kinda SOL.

Me: Cut me a break?

Me: ...okay.
FCOtD: I used to work for you guys at the "Fuckcakery of Wayne".
Me: Okay.
FCOtD: That's in Wayne.
Me: Would you mind if I put you on hold for a moment? I sprained my eyes rolling them just now and I'm stuck staring at the back of my eye-sockets.
Oh dear. I teach a couple of classes, and what are you people doing while I'm gone? F-C-Ming Homer. You do realize that I am going to be thinking about this the entire time I try to teach these stories, right? Evil. Pure, unadulterated evil.
MM, are you sure that FCOD wasn't from Baltimore/Reisterstown? Cause that sounds an awful lot like my phone call, with the spelling and everything.

Yeah, I thought it was funny that I got that call right after I read your post.
But, no. This woman is in Wayne. Which is in Wayne.
We should introduce them!
