In twenty minutes, I have to give a lecture on Ancient Greece, Homer, and the creation of the Iliad and Odyssey.
City-states, democracy, philosophers, cool buildings, blind poet, oral tradition, Troy.
Does that wrap it up?
F - Philosophers, C - City-states, M - Democracy
F Achilles, C Odysseus, M Hector
Oh, I'd so F Odysseus over Achilles. Especially if we're doing Troy the movie casting.
ETA: Achilles would be, like, the ultimate selfish lay.

Okay, NH primary question....
Did anyone else worry that Clinton's surprising resurgence is a result of the Republicans panicking over losing her as a target if Obama got the nomination? Could her win be partially attributed to an open primary and Republicans wanting her to beat up in the general election instead of Obama who might be more electable? Or am I completely cynical?
Especially if we're doing Troy the movie casting.
Hey, now, that's a totally different issue.
Oh, I'd so F Odysseus over Achilles.
We are clearly on opposite sides of the Odysseus - Achilles spectrum. At least Achilles didn't lark around for ten years after the war was over, having sex with Circe and occasionally going, "Oh, I miss Penelope."
Could her win be partially attributed to an open primary and Republicans wanting her to beat up in the general election instead of Obama who might be more electable?
It's only a semi-open primary -- independents could vote for her because they want to beat up on her, but registered repubs couldn't. That said, it's possible... but then again, I've also seen her win attributed to (mostly Obama-supporting) independents voting the repub card because they wanted to make sure Romney went down in big flamey flames.
I think any level of cynical is at least partly justified, but I'm also not sure it's possible to get a simple explanation.
