Lorne: Back in Pylea they used to call me "sweet potato." Connor: Really. Lorne: Yeah, well, the exact translation was "fragrant tuber" but…

I just went down to the garage to take out the trash. This proved to be a mistake. Almost the entire courtyard is under several inches of water.

I'm very glad at the moment that my unit is placed where it is. If I wasn't near the front door and I'd probably have water creeping up to my doorstep right now.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Sounds like one hell of a storm in CA -- definitely hurricane strength, to be sure. Hopefully, all the earthquake-reinforced buildings will be up to it, but still -- if the trees and such haven't had high winds in a whole lot of years, all the weaker ones come down at once.

And I understand, from a landscaping friend of mine in SF, eucalyptus trees will come down if you look at them hard. Quite an entertaining rant, actually....

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Bleah. Waiting for the Advil to kick in. (Don't have a full headache, just the edges of one. I did have the weird blurry-flashy-colors-in-my-vision thing at breakfast, so I know the headache's coming.)

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

So, it seems I finally have power! Must have been repaired sometime in the night. Which is good since PG & E's last message before I went to sleep was they might have more info by 5pm on Saturday!

It was weird coming home last night. On West Portal, blocks were alternately lit or dark. Like, on the first block the stores on the north side were lit, while those on the south side were dark. The next block was the reverse. The godawful-Christmas-lights house was all ablaze just down the block, but we had no electricity.

Needless to say, games were played. Word to the wise: Cards can be hard to read by candlelight.

Sadly, no power last night means no FNL on the TiVo today!
