yay Emily! Yay Fay's kids! Yay Fay!
Yay my friend Owen applying for a job here in Seattle! (He currently lives in Baltimore)
VW, I completely understand the "I'll just get up early in the morning..." thing. I did that to myself ALL THE TIME in college. Somehow, even though it never happened, I truly believed, late at night, that I *would* get up early...
I just got a call from the GILF (fourth call from someone this morning--my phone is ringing off the hook!). We are on for dinner. At my house.

Oh dear. I really need the next few hours for cleaning. Er. However, she has a meeting at 8:30, so I do not think any cleaning of non-public areas need happen. This is not "come over for dinner and then..." (damnit!)
so freaking tired - I got up this morning only because of my teeny bookclub meeting - and I have two girls that come regularly - that's it. Guess who is sick today. Grumble Grumble grumble.
Calling DCistas, and visitors to our fair city who have found fun things to do that rock...besides the obvious...
My oldest friend in the Universe is here for a 6 day visit...staying on the Hill, but not with me. Thank goodness for Cap Hill Suites just 5 blocks away.
I've prepared a good menu of meals to keep going out costs down (and have taken into account the restraurant recs previously proffered for dinners out...thanks for that!)
Now I'm looking for funky things to do. She's into quilting, so I'm looking at the Textile museum and women's museum...and a walking tour.

I presume that's not Grandma You'd Like to Fuck.

you know, I find that's exactly when that sort of thing tends to happen. I don't clean or girlscape, and then things get interesting. Then I look like I'm playing hard to get when I'm really thinking "no, I want to get gotten, I just have dirty sheets on my bed and crap all over the bed"
That's just what I was thinking, Vortex. And then I thought, maybe the smart strategy is not to clean the bedroom, but that kind of overthinking rarely works.
Other thoughts?
Zoo? Arboretum? Dancing at Glen Echo? Folger Shakespeare Library?
(I had to suggest a library, although they are rarely considered "funky" unless one is describing the smell in the Reading Room during finals week.)
P-C, that is exactly what that is.
I presume that's not Grandma You'd Like to Fuck.
Oh, but it so IS, what it is... (She's 38. Has an 18 year old, who has a four month old)
bonny, how about one of those bus/trolley tour things - you can travel around town, hop off at designated stops and then hop back on. There's one - they use double-decker buses - that sells tickets good for two days.
There's the Library of Congress - the old building (Madison?) was renovated/restored a while ago. There are museums of all sorts (fyi, the textile museum doesn't open until 1:00 on Sundays ... which I found out the hard way). The National Cathedral - religious or not, it's impressive (one of the altarpieces is by N.C. Wyeth). ooh! the Peacock Room at the Freer!
