As being permanently single, Valentines Day does get to me - even now I can fall prey to cultural expectations. sigh.

In re Wal-Mart - Vortex, if you'll bring matches and lighter fluid, I'll bring champagne.

Now that I think about it, I haven't really seen a whole lot of Valentine's stuff, other than some displays at Kroger (and notices of a carnation sale in school). We'll see what the high school's like on Thursday, but I'm feeling pleasantly unassaulted. I'm even thinking of picking up some of that pink sparkling wine for fun.

Emily - for before or after school?

carnation sale in school

I remember hating those sort of school events. I either got none, or got one or two from friends. Not nice for the old self-esteem, you know?

Hee. Not telling.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. It's sucky. I'm pretty divorced from all the drama, with my all-boy classes.

Heh. I have done flowers and dinner once....when a friend had to go to class and had me take her girlfriend out instead. It was actually quite fun--all the fun, none of the drama (they were both good friends of mine...and are now married with a baby!)

I think last year was the only time I've ever been dating someone on Valentine's Day. And I was in Texas, while she was in New Mexico. Or somesuch.

Happy Birthday Kristin! And Maria!

I was dating someone on VD once. There were 2 issues -- he didn't believe in VD, and he was in Pakistan at the time.

Once a friend of mine had planned to make a nice VD meal for her boyfriend but they broke up right before VD so she made the meal for the two of us. It was goooooood (Cornish game hens, if I recall correctly). In yo face, Mr. Man!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Heh.

Once a friend of mine had her boyfriend break up with her the day after VD. She was all mad that he waited until then.

Is there any good time to break up with someone in the vicinity of VD?
