Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Gronkies
Have been woken up about every 20 minutes with the dog going NUTS barking. Nothing visible out the front window to set him off, so I kept trying to go back to bed.
Gave up on that about a half hour ago. Realized that I kept hearing truck noises, almost like garbage truck, but not. And then there was that beep-beep-beep of a truck in reverse. WTF it is 1am in the morning.
I finally threw on my shoes and a jacket and walked around the corner to see what was going on. There is a full fledged construction site in the middle of the street behind me. Big lights and big trucks from EBMUD (water district). Gah, not like that noise is going to stop soon. And now I'm WIDE FREAKING AWAKE.
Want. Sleep.
Snarl, stooopid trucks and construction still going. still awake. Not cool.
Sox, I may COMM the unravelling line.
awww - thanks Andi.
SuziQ is me, without the dog barking. AUGH. Not enough gronk in the world this morning.
I first thought you were saying you had thrown up on your shoes, Suzi. So, um, could be worse?
GC, I wish you and GF and her family all the best. When members of my DHs family have passed away, the folks arranging the burials were very helpful w/r/t memorial possibilities, and it has always been my DH who felt the need to stand up and say something. You might find there is a family member or a friend willing to take the lead who hasn't made themselves known, yet -- so I'd suggest asking.
{{Suzi}} Are you working from home today? I hope?
Yesterday we got a real diagnosis for the puppy: Giardia has been what's causing all of her GI problems. Fortunately, the antibiotic she's been on for the past week should take care of it.

In other news, I have successfully travelled to my crappy job through SNOWPOCALYPSE!!!
You know what would make a lot of sense? If a state that gets a fair amount of snow would be prepared to plow the roads when it inevitably, you know...snows.
I wish I lived in a state like that.
Many sympathies, Gloomcookie and family. Choosing an officiant (or any participant) at a memorial service can be tricky in unexpected ways. For years, my Grandma Z made it very clear that she wanted me (her oldest grandchild, and the only one with anything even remotely resembling voice training) to sing her favorite hymn at her funeral. But when she died (I was 17), I was too broken up to do so. And it still took the entire family the full three days between her death and her funeral to talk me out of it.
oh meara, I'm sorry about the job. While it would be nice to get you back in THIS Washington, I can understand your wanting to stay in Seattle.
And GC, my sympathies to you and GF. My only suggestion for the memorial service is to get someone who had some knowlege of her father (my father's funeral we had someone who couldn't pronounce his first name).
On a lighter note, I just discovered (another) downside to middle age. I was sitting here, trying to read the computer screen and suddenly realized I was wearing the wrong glasses. sigh.
Oh, GC, honey. My condolences to you and GF and her family. Much love to you all.
Are there any groups/organizations that he was involved with? Lions Club? Masons? A theater? Golf Course? Often these places have a congregating room that might be nice.
This was what I was going to suggest…
I wish I lived in a state like that.
You and me both! I can’t believe that MA gets so freaked out when there’s snow. I mean, there’s ALWAYS snow. It’s more certain than the Patriots winning the Super Bowl.
So, I slept like crap. Finally realized at 4 a.m. that I’d been tossing and turning and adding clothes and taking off clothes for a couple of hours. Maybe something was wrong. Got up and took my temp: 102! I don’t remember the last time I had that high of a temp. Craziness! Thanks to Tylenol, it’s back to normal and I feel a little better, but blech.
No throw up on the shoes. Actually got a couple of hours of "sleep". The construction noise is STILL going on, DH just walked over to see what is happening - water main busted.
The ding-dang-dog actually stopped barking after I did my investigatory walk at o'dark thirty in the morning.
Can't work from home today - need paperwork that is at the office. Gonna check in on stuff from here, take my shower, and then head in.
Gronk?
