GC, I'm so sorry about Jack. Much sympathy to you, GF and all her family.
I'd look for someone close to Jack to officiate--was he in any clubs or organizations? I've been to services where they just line up loved ones to say a few words and play a favorite piece of music. There are no funeral rules, per se. I hope they can decide on something that gives them peace.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.
hugs to you and your GF, GC. I attended a very simple memorial service in a park where guests were encouraged to bring origami cranes and to share something. The cranes were put on strings and hung from the trees. The widow played guitar and one of the kids wrote a poem that was on display. It was really sweet.
