Spike's Bitches 39: Cuppa Tea, Cuppa Tea, Almost Got Shagged, Cuppa Tea...

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Just an opinion here, but try one everything you like and a few you think you won't. You might be surprised at what you end up really loving.

I will. Where did your sister end up getting her dress?

Mostly lurking...

Also, sj, I was in a wedding where the bride actually had spaghetti straps added to all of the dresses. It's very easy to do. Actually, probably one of the easiest alterations of all time!

I've noticed this option on the David's Bridal website too. They also have cute little lacy straps you can add. I'm sure anything I get will have to be altered greatly to fit me because of my height.

I love almost all of the J Crew wedding dresses. Very simple and pretty.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Where did your sister end up getting her dress?

At a boutique store here in Michigan called "The Wedding Belle".

I think I'm going to try a boutique store in RI as well as David's Bridal.

Too pricey, but gorgeous [link]

Bridesmaid dresses could also work for wedding dress and are less $$: [link]

I like the cut of that one, but it is a little too plain for my taste.

Good idea.

sj, I got the dress I wore for my wedding from Jessica McClintock (the website seems to be down) which proved good for my short self. JCrew wanted me to be tall and lanky, I thought.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

There is also the idea of finding a seamstress, giving her a pattern of a dress that is style you want (regardless of bridal or not), and picking out bridal fabrics and colors, to have it done the way you want. It can be more economical that some of the designer dresses, and also can sometimes be more precisely what you want. Of course, it may not be easy to find a talented and reliable seamstress.
