Well no, but I do wnat to get someone in so I can train them and get a kinda smooth transition.
It's going to be hard because I'm the most experienced person when it comes to certain things, a replacement for my superivsor hasn't been hired yet.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Another fun day in Orlando. There are video drive problems, so while those get sorted out I'm sitting around waiting for a couple of hours. There's actually not much work for me to do on this today so it will all be fine.
The bummer is that the VP that they were trying to get a meeting with for this evening changed his schedule and isn't available, so it's back to the drawing board on trying to find out the scope of work that Nickelodeon has for me. Grrrr. I really want to get some sense of how much they plan to use me and in what capacity.
ND: Hi. I'm doing some work for you. What is the scope and how do you plan to use me?
Mr. Nickelodeon VP: Well, We have this idea. t reaches under desk t pulls out Squiward costume How do you feel about costumes?
ND: Let me talk to you about my costume day rate.

I totally understand - and my reaction stems only from my experience as 'unpaid but still doing stuff for people' because I've felt guilty and responsible in the past. It isn't a bad thing - but disorganized companies can lean on it until it becomes a huge timesuck. If it were me, I'd give them a good how-to document, maybe offer to be available to respond to a couple of emails every once in a while (but have a strategy for what happens if it gets to be more than that) and let them deal with their own hiring mess. If they're bringing in temps, and still haven't hired a supervisor, a good how-to, with some sample scenarios, might be of much more use long term.

Oh, Askye, I get you on this. My transition into my new job is going to be complicated by the fact that I've been working on this contract with this client for over 12 years. While others want to see me advance, they don't want to lose that knowledge. Not sure what to do, but I'm trying to document as much as I can.
Suzi, I'm so happy for you. I can understand not wanting to let go of your experience but it's not like you're falling off the planet. You'll be available to answer questions and stuff.
askye, they won't fall apart without you. But I'm sure they will miss you when you're gone.
ACK! School's been cancelled. TV guys are here and I'm trying to distract and keep the kids upstairs while they work. Owen's in my tub in a bubble bath and Liv's next to me brushing her teeth. Hopefully, DH can get off work by 11 and get over here to help.
I was counting on taking Owen to class which would keep him out from under foot.
(but have a strategy for what happens if it gets to be more than that)
get a separate email address that you give them for these issues. Start out by having it forward to your regular email (make sure that replies come from that address not your regular email). After whatever time you've specified (i.e., I'll be available for questions by email for two weeks), stop the forwarding, and only check occasionally.
Thank doG for internet connections everywhere. At least while I'm spinning my wheels waiting on Nickelodeon I can be getting pricing and trying to solve some projects for The Mouse. How is this my life?
Crack. Ing. Up.
Boss advertised for someone to take over Co-worker's position on CL. Now, under Rants and Raves, a couple of people have posted the ad and are trashing Boss for offering so little pay!
We don't know if we tell him or not.
