B&N gift card spent. I got a Regency romance by one of my author friends (Vanishing Viscountess by Diane Gaston) and two research books--Wellington in India by Jac Weller and Napoleon's Marshals by R.F. Delderfield. And in a few days I'll come home from work and find a box of goodies on my doorstep!
I'm such a geek.
I've finished the marmalade I started last night. Good balance of bitterness and sweetness, clearer than my Seville marmalades usually turn out. Have concluded it is the Perfect Marmalade.
MMMM. Marmalade. I'd say nom nom nom, but my tummy is very happy now.
Last night party was a lot of fun- I had no problems enjoying myself. the restaurant had dinner inside - the they cover the back patio and had heaters and another band ( that did more dancable stuff). Every time I went inside to listen to Matt play I ended up with more wine.
But because of the amazing Duck that I had for dinner - never went over the edge. I think I kissed a billion people from midnight to 1230 I love living in a place where I know and like so many people.
this day is very social. first we had brunch( nom nom nom) at a neighbors ( with pimosas) and had to leave there to go to lunch with other friends - Indian food ( nom nom nom ) and now we are resting a bit so we can go to the silent movies tongiht. One of our neighbors rented the silent movie theater for a neighborhood party.
happy new year friends!
happy birthday Susan
I had the most boring New Year's Eve ever, as I had been fighting a migraine all day long, so bugged out of the party I had planned to attend. I vaguely heard some fireworks, but that was about it. On the bright side, I had no angst, no crankiness, and today the migraine is mostly gone. I'm still in my jammies, but I have made homemade soup (not black-eyed pea, but it smells good) and have done dishes. I need to do more dishes and work on cleaning up, as my mom is visiting on Sunday on her way to Arizona. Meep. I think I may eat some soup first.
And thanks for sharing the conversation with your neighbor, vw. It's just adorable.
eta: Happy Birthday, Susan! Saying that was actually the purpose of this post, but I appear to be easily distracted today.
For the first day back to school, I have a snow delay! Whoot!
Did Tilda Swinton just come out as poly?
Sounds like they broke up but still live together for the sake of the kids. Very Fergie & Andrew.
Our guests finally left. Oy. So tired. So anti-social feeling. I usually like this family, but was so maxed by the time they left. And it was their son who pushed my buttons this time when I was prepared for it to be their daughter.
Get offa my lawn.
Happy Birthday, Susan.
Maybe your neighbor can introduce you to a cute boy or girl, vw.
I've been reading about container gardening.
Container gardening has a lot to recommend it. Potatoes do well in a big tub. I have been intrigued by the upside down tomato growing technique for years, now, but haven't actually tried it because then I'd have a bunch of tomatoes to deal with.
I think I read something about Tilda Swinton having some sort of unconventional living arrangements in an interview a while back, but I don't rightly recall.
We took the dog out to Rush Ranch where he can be off leash as long as he's under voice command. Which he mostly is, but he did decide to try to chase a cow, so he had to go back on the leash. Still, a fun outing for all of us and it's not far away, so we will be going back and he will be learning to ignore the big bovines.
