I just picked something close to my price range off their list and sent it. They'll be in a new parent fog and I'm the only one who will care that I didn't make a more personal selection to show them I cared.

Baby gifts are rough for me. Do I get something uber practical, or do I get something that has meaning. I think my last baby present was a crocheted blanket. But I don't always have time to do that. Bah - I don't think I know anyone who is expecting and who would expect a gift from me.

Well, the work day is almost over. No letter but I did talk with boss-to-be this morning and he was going back and forth with HR over some stuff in it, so I know things are moving along. I think I'm going to work from home tomorrow...

Suzi, IME you rock at the baby gift getting. Every single person who's seen Matilda in the little A's cap you got her has swooned over it. Most of them are good and wroth that they can't find it in an adult size.

Okay so. The job interview went really well.

The interview was conducted by the director of the agency and he was really impressed with the fact I plan to be a librarian. He asked me several questions about it and I related them to work and did the whole "I like to help people find information and resources" and it didn't sound canned. He asked me if I was relaible and what I did when it was slow. Also how I felt about working with people with different education backgrounds and degrees, and I told him that I work everydaywith people who never finished high school and also those who've done post grad work and it doesn't matter to me and I wouldn't treat anyone differently. Other questions included what the retention rate was where I am now he was impressed by that (people only leave when they retire or when spouses move).

I saw my aunt so I gave her a quick hug after the interview.

Then told Mom and we had dinner. I haven't gottne in touch with dad.

BUT!

My aunt called to tell me that through the grapevine she'd heard I was one of the TOP THREE candidates!!!!!!!

Flail!

So continued job ma.

And omigod thanks for all the jobma and prayers up until this point.

OK, CP finally responded to my rant from last night, telling me to "cool it," that she never meant to say I was relying on the Sharpe books instead of doing research, and reiterated her point of disagreement with me without citing any sources to back her up.

I win because I cited sources, right? I shouldn't dignify her post with a further response, because she's obviously not going to believe me no matter how many authorities I wave in her face?

It's just...she's defending Romanceland Conventional Wisdom in a case where it's wrong. And she acts like she's such a research expert herself, and I'm like, "How can she claim that when she's arguing for something I've scene disproved in at least five places, two of which are Major Works that have been around for decades?" And from previous research debates, I get the impression she's dismissing what I say because I'm 20 years younger than she is and not from a Commonwealth country.

I got this for my cousin's husband when they found out she was pregnant. She's due any day now, as a matter of fact. He's an engineer so he found it very suited to him as opposed to the touchy-feely parenting books out there.

Owen had a stellar first day of school. It's so cool walking through the halls of an actual elementary school and seeing the rooms and all the kids. I hope he continues to like it.
