Trust my rage

Had SO much fun with Stephanie and family this weekend. Really. Just a blast. Am back on St. Thomas and warm...trying to cool off.

We had so much fun, too. If you ever need a house guest, Val is an excellent candidate.

It's weird to think that you are already back on St. Thomas and on the internet. Usually people have to fly for hours...which reminds me, the dogs are somewhere over the Bahamas at the moment. (My dogs are flying to New Mexico today. I'm a little nervous for them, but now that htey are in the air, it's all out of my hands so I feel better.)

eta: Hil - on a cruise. She was on St. Thomas too, although I'm not exactly sure if she meant this weekend or last weekend.

Oh, yay! Good to hear.

Oh how funny!

Old San Juan for me was last Tuesday. St. Thomas was Thursday, I think. (Cruises are essentially the water equivalent of "If it's Tuesday, it must be Belgium.) Had only a few hours in Old San Juan, and we had the full day in St. Thomas, but spent only about an hour on land (enough time to walk a few blocks of Main Street in Charlotte Amalie, buy a book, and eat the worst grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had), and then spent the rest of the time snorkeling in Shipwreck Cove.

Was it soggy?

(I'm trying to imagine the ways in which grilled cheese can be bad)

Sounds like fun.

I was telling vwbug this weekend that the food we had on St. Thomas was terrible. Apparently we just went to the wrong places but I"m glad to know we weren't alone.

Oh, fun! Sorry about the grilled cheese, though. That's sucky.

Thursday was a busy day on the island. I'm pretty sure that was a six ship day. Craziness!

The grilled cheese: before assembling the sandwich, they totally coated both sides of both pieces of bread with jarred chopped garlic. Now, I like garlic. But totally coated with the jarred kind, not even sauteed or anything, is way too much. Then the sandwich was burned on the outside, but the heat didn't get inside enough to melt the cheese.

The curly fries, though, were excellent. (My sister got a hamburger at the same place and said it was the worst hamburger she's ever had.)

Today we're taking a snow day- Tom's office is closed and I didn't feel great yesterday so I figured I'd take it easy- not worth hauling ass into the office.

Snow Day! Whoo!!

I'm trying to remember what our schedule was. I think it was Monday at sea, Tuesday afternoon in San Juan, Wednesday St. Martin/Maarten, Thursday St. Thomas, Friday and Saturday at sea, Sunday morning back in Port Canaveral. Then all of Sunday at the Orlando airport, because my plane, which was scheduled for takeoff at 1:20, didn't actually board until 4.

Oh! Found a little "local" restaurant right on the beach in St. Maarten that had a vegetarian choice right on the menu! It was rice and peas with some steamed veggies, but at least they made the effort. And steamed veggies are way better than overly boiled ones. (Our cab driver had a rant about how people from other places will boil vegetables and then throw out the water, and how this is the totally wrong way to cook vegetables -- they should be steamed.)
