This is the first time I've tried making stew without browning the meat, because this particular recipe is a non-browning recipe. We'll see how it goes. My previous stews have been in dutch ovens rather than crockpots, but I've got a crockpot and no dutch oven at the moment.

I make stew in the crockpot all of the time. sometimes I will brown the meat and sautee the onions the night before and then throw it all together in the morning. but, I've not browned plenty of times and it's just fine.
