I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's my problem. Apparently both gases and gasses are acceptable, but I'm wondering if one of them is a UK spelling.

What is the plural of the word "gas"?

Depends on which gas. The one at the pump is already a mass noun. Otherwise, in chemistry class, you deal with gases.

ETA: Gases looks wrong because other forms use two "s"s--gassed, gassing.

Yeah, that's the meaning I'm dealing with. Gases it is. (But it still looks weird.)

That is my primary concern about Giuliani, and I haven't heard anything from New Yorkistas to counter it. I don't really find Romney or McCain scary. I'd be concerned that Thompson would be too hawkish.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.
