Growing up in the middle of nowhere with a mom and gram who grew up on farms meant that there were always random bits of metal and tools and whosits around. I still assume I have those things at hand and can frequently be found wandering around my house muttering thing like, "How can we not have a spare fence post? And where are my random-yet-useful bits of wood?" I am not much of a pack-rat myself, but I was raised by champs.

I might have to go with bubble wrap. There is a few inches between the trunk and the screws.
A friend just linked to this in her LJ: Cellulite, a curse from God or a tool of Satan? The responses are cracking me up. So much angst!
Shit. I just went to go check on Franny as she had a low fever when she went to bed. Well it is way up.
Shit.
Vortex, bubble wrap will probably not be solid enough for your tree stand to support the tree. Try to find something more solid - maybe even fold or stack up thick wads of paper. But wood shims or similar would be best.
Poor Franny. But nighttime fevers are sometimes easier because you give 'em Motrin and they sleep.
yeah, Hec. I just gave her a dose of tylenol. Sis agreed with me it may be an ear infection given the runny nose, so I guess we're going to the doctor tomorrow.
You'll need something more solid than bubble wrap. Longer screws would be the best option.

wrong thread.
Hope ita's sister arrived safely and their trip to the ER isn't too fraught with the idiocy of the medical industry.
Poor Franny, I hope the tylenol does the trick so there is rest for the night.
