Sounds like you read it right. 8:30 AM anythings are of the soul-sucking variety.
She invited the Upper School faculty to a holiday gathering in her (huge) office at 8:30 a.m.
uncool.
and in other uncool news, I recently got a new computer after the old one committed hari kari. I could not back it up my damned self because it kept crashing and the cheap bastards hadn't installed a CD burner. I slogged through to get my personal shit, and gave up. So, i had to rely on the tech to pull the files I requested. of course, I KEPT finding shit that he had missed. Like say, my ENTIRE pictures folder. Which is filled with work shit. (reason for not copying-- it was such a big file @@) He installed a corrupted copy of Outlook, and couldn't find another one. So, I had a friend of mine send me one, but the copy on the computer was so fucked up that it couldn't be uninstalled. So, now, guess what? they get to wipe my harddrive!! I backed everything up, tried to back up my Outlook personal folder (came out to 900 MB, WTF), but it WON'T COPY TO A MOTHERFUCKING CD. It's too big to SendSpace, it's too big to Gmail. So, now asshat tech is looking for a thumb drive big enough. I have a thumb drive, but it's got stuff on it and is only 1GB, so it won't work.
AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Dana, you probably shouldn't look at Lee Goldberg's blog if you already want to kill things.
Vortex, there are other file-sharing sites that might take a file that big, like Megaupload. Sorry your guy is a moron, though.

Heh. I saw it this morning, though there are probably all kinds of irritating new comments since then. Whatever. Sad little man.

I can't do anything but laugh at him, at this point. I mean, seriously? Seriously?

thanks. I thought he was better than the others, so this is a real disappointment. I mean, it's fucking ridiculous that they can't find an uncorrupted copy of Office. And if he asks me for the one I have, I'm going to say no.
I just got back from freaking out my optometrist. Apparently, in addition to needing bifocals (not a surprise), my nearsightedness has actually improved in both eyes, with the right eye improving by a full power (went from 1.25 to only .25), and the left eye improving by .25 (it's always been the worst eye by far). Blew his mind, and he triple-checked it in the usual way: "Now, which one's better, this one or this one? Not darker, but sharper. Are you sure about that?"
Bifocals (not progressives, since I need the broader range of vision the lined bifocals give) are damn expensive even with the insurance giving me a break.
A popular Chicago grade-school principal died yesterday during a root-canal. Weird. Anyway, some of the comments of her students are making me tear up....
Students said Watson was actively involved with activities at the school, dressing as a fairy for Halloween, dancing at a school dance last Friday, and helping 7th- and 8th-graders choreograph a dance for a school talent showcase this week.
"I had a lot of fun with her," said 8th-grader Max Quinones, 14. "I'm not going to be able to learn, because I'm going to be thinking of her all day."
Fifth-grader Joseph Torres, 10, said Watson helped him do better in school the last couple years.
"She changed my life by helping me out and giving me advice about not hanging around bad kids," Torres said. "Mrs. Watson was a pretty cool principal."
Thanks, -t!
That's very weird - deathly root canals...a whoel new reason to fear the dentist.
