That's disturbing. You're emotionally scarred and will end up badly.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

There's this artist... his thing is making household objects look like meat. [link]

My fave is the toilet.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If I take another antihistamine I might never wake up. On the other hand, it's a more peaceful and tidy way to go than blood loss from self-inflicted scratches.

I watched the ST:TNG episode of I, Borg this morning. That show sure had some clunkers, but when it was on, whoo! On. I liked this episode especially because they stuck to their "annihilate all enemy combatants" stance and backed down from their original plan when it became doubtful that there would be no collateral damage.

I hate when the SFF protagonists back down from a situation in which if there's any enemy remaining they will track our heroes down with intent to kill...as if the idea of killing all their attackers has just now occured to "us."

Patrick Stewart and Whoopi Goldberg got to do some fine work, not to omit the kid playing Hugh.

From an informal and incredibly incomplete survey the thesis of ST:TOS seemed to be "Don't be happy. Humans aren't meant to be that way." Not sure how/why/if that changed by TNG, but I am sure glad it did. I feel like a traitor for realising I kinda don't like TOS, and I'm still sniffing at the co-worker who said all SFF on TV that has followed is inferior.

It's funny--of Liese's post, the only word I can read reliably is cheesecake. And I'm not even hungry.

Okay, back to watching Formula 51. Not sure why I rented it, but men in skirts will do for a rationale for now.

eta: Tommy, I have to admit I had some worry about this, but I think it's okay now.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I put my clean clothes away, on the same day I washed them.

I think I need some wine to help me get over the shock.

Today I:

  • Woke up at 4-something AM.
  • Watched a couple episodes of The Wire. HBO really are fuckwads for doing this 2- or 3-eps per disk thing.
  • Slept on the couch for a while.
  • Determined that I'm not as far behind on gift-shopping as I thought. But the gifts I have left to get are for family members and they're hard to shop for.
  • Went to the bank to deposit a check. Failed, as I'd forgotten they'd changed their hours.
  • Went up to the collection of big-box stores in Germantown. Got some presents. I'm not done, but I'm closer.
  • Also got me stuff. Tights, socks, underwear, and jeans. Jeans that fit! Jeans that fit and are a size smaller than the (very baggy) pair I've been wearing. And when this pair is too big [crossing fingers] I have old jeans that used to fit that I can wear again. Yay.
  • Stopped to buy groceries even though my feet hurt and I just wanted to go home. But it was supposed to be sleety and gross tomorrow so I figured I'd better do it now.
  • Bought some grease-laden food as a reward for getting groceries. Yum.
  • Got home. Unloaded car. Ate. Took another nap.
  • Caught up on TWoP stuff, mostly.

Today I did not:

  • Call my mother back. I would have, except the napping seemed more important at the time.
  • Return library books. That are way, way overdue. This is why I didn't have a library card for a while.
  • Decorate the tree that has been standing naked for a week.
  • Pack up the gifts that need to be mailed on Monday.
So that's what I will do tomorrow. Except maybe the library book part.

And now I'm listening to the rain. Or sleet. Whatever it is, I'm glad I convinced myself to persevere through grocery-shopping.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Mmm. The cheesecake was awesome. And so was the bath. And now I am warm and sleepy. But before I retire, I have one more task to do which will complete our holiday shopping and that is to buy the penguin for the SO! Whoo!

See? More cheesecake. I can see nothing else.

God, I itch! I can't sit still to watch the strange fucking movie, because of the itching!

In case you were looking for a couple hours of entertainment, Formula 51 is a completely pointless movie. Learn from my error.

Swouncing

Skipping and poking my head in order to apologize to Typo Boy, whose birthday was on Friday, and my internet connection refused to acknowledge the outside world enough in order for me to wish him a happy one. So sorry! I hope you had a great day, will have a wonderful year, and a very happy third-day-of-your-new-age!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

How embarassed should I be that I just bought one of those huge popcorn tins all for myself? It was only $3.99!

As long as you eat it hand-to-mouth I'd say you're fine.

If you stick your head in and start chomping we'll all have to point and laugh.
