The rain'll get there. It's stuck in a jam at Lexington and 3rd.

As I was waiting in line at Wal-mart last night, the clerk wished the person in front of me "Happy Holidays," and she responded with "Merry Christmas. I know you're not allowed to say that here." She followed up with something about how it might make sense in, say, California, but my godness, who would be offended here?
I think this is hysterical since I get a much more "Christmas" vibe here than I ever did in NY.
wintery mix
I hate you
you suck
wintery mix
you're the worst of the worst
You tease with some pretty
then turn into a mess
You make walking a nightmare
you are not unlike cess
I hate you I hate you
weather, make up your mind
Just freeze and be done
stop being unkind.
claps
Brava! Brava!
In about ten minutes, the day could end up going very very badly.
Sadly, nothing to do with weather.
Maybe I'll go have a smokey-treat
I thought you quit, Empress.
See, this is exactly why I fear planes more than cars.
Not that I'm very afraid to fly but this is my issue too. And my biggest car crash fear is that I'll be in slow or stopped traffic and rammed from behind by something big enough to absolutely crush my car, like a tractor trailer or dumptruck, and there will have been nothing I can do to prevent it. So I'll almost always try to change lanes if I'm on the highway in heavy traffic and I see one of those behind me.
In sum: people who like control fear flying and like driving; people who like to not be responsible like flying and fear driving. Interesting.
I thought you quit, Empress.
I thought I did, too.
Lo, I am weak.

the day before 6th grade started - our family SUBURBAN TOTALED by a semi-truck hauling rock who hit us from behind as we were stopped on the shoulder trying to avoid being hit in the front by an out of control semi-truck pulling a carnival ride. Me? I wasn't buckled in. Luckily I was the worst injured with 3-4 big cruises and some temp compression damage to vertebrae.
Hmmm. I love driving and hate flying, but fear neither. My hatred of flying is entirely comfort-driven. (If I could afford to fly first class, I'd probably hate flying less, but there'd still be that whole my-sinuses-feeling-like-they-might-explode issue to contend with.)
Trains are my favorite.
