Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OMG - Spiders on Mars!

SAN FRANCISCO—NASA scientists have discovered what might form some of the weirdest landscapes on Mars, winding channels carved into the Martian surface that scientists have dubbed "spiders," "lace" and "lizard skin."

The unusual landscape features form in an area of Mars' south pole called cryptic terrain because it once defied explanation.

But new observations from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, presented here today at a meeting of the American Geophysical Union, bolster theories that the intricate patterns may be sculpted by springtime outbursts of carbon dioxide gas from underneath the frozen-carbon dioxide polar ice cap.

The pictures are kinda freaky....

Aw, astronaut didn't make the summit. Core temp was fluctuating too much and he had signs of the thing where your lung bubbles pop due to strain (temps between something ridic like 93 and 103. I think they swallowed a probe or had one implanted to get data on core temps. At least he didn't get too sick. We need him!!!)

Looks like a bunch of people died or were badly injured on the periphery during the filming of this NOVA. Hence, the title: Deadly Ascent

I'd love to see some of the places climbers go, but it is too brutal for me, I do believe.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Hm. What should I have for supper?

I mostly intend to curl up in bed with my laptop and attempt to write, but mostly watch television.

ION, I'm getting one of those touch iPods for chrismakah!!!!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

OMG - Spiders on Mars!

Quick, someone tell David Bowie!

I had this for dinner and Epicurious immediately told Facebook about it. Which was freaky, but also kind of neat. (The Facebook thing, not the actual food. The food was nummy.)

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

It doesn't seem nearly as bad as predicted though.

It really isn't. I left for work 30 minutes early yesterday morning and this morning, and the commute from Liberty to downtown KC was the normal 30 minutes driveway-to-desk. Wet, but not slippery at all. And at at 6 a.m. the traffic isn't bad either.
