So did the hospital do ANYTHING for you? Other than force you to lie in bed, that is.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Nope. Well, they have given me doses of reglan (anti-nausea) and dihydroergotamine every eight hours and may contionue to do so. Has no effect my pain. Maybe it makes them feel better. I'd rather be miserable at home, all told. And I'd really REALLY rather shower at home.
I have gotten to see Kat three times, and am reading Jane magazine (weird stuff) and wearing pink pyjama bottoms through her enablement. But they don't get to take credit for that. It's all her.

So, I'm watching Knute Rockne, All American, and it's got me thinking about the subgenre of sports movies: sports movies where someone dies (or gets a clearly deadly illness), which so moves the team that they go on to win a game. So far, I've got this, Brian's Song, and Pride of the Yankees. What else?
Secondary to your question, Hil, are they all Based on a True Story?
(The real George Gipp was exhumed for DNA testing this year, apparently.)
Huh. I hadn't noticed the Based on a True Story thing. Are there any that aren't?
I read about the DNA thing. Done without the permission of his family, according to what I've read. (Also, the people who asked for the DNA testing, to see if Gipp was their grandfather, had assumed that there was a lock of hair or something. They said they wouldn't have asked for it if they knew it would involve digging up his grave.)
Locks of hair don't work, do they? Don't you need flesh?
is Jane magazine a shopping guide? I mean, more so than most fashion mags? There's one that I'm trying to remember...
Has anyone here (re)embraced the skinny jean-leg trend? High waist?
god, I need Benadryl.
Well, without permission of all the family. The person who gave permission to do the exhume and check was family, but he hadn't cleared it with everyone else.
But now they know he wasn't the baby daddy!
O frabjous day! My loving and funny and sweet nephew, who was supposed to go into basic training for the Marines right after Christmas, failed his physical. He has a bad knee and they turned him down flat. He was devastated, but the rest of the family is overwhelmingly relieved.

So who here was reminded by the media that today is Pearl Harbor Day? Who didn't know (and was not reminded by the media)?
I didn’t think about it until the radio news guy announced the date, like he does every day. He said ‘today is December 7” and I mentally added “a day that will live in infamy”
