(11-27) 22:25 PST San Francisco -- A Mill Valley man prevented a potentially serious crash on the Golden Gate Bridge today by using his pickup truck to guide a sport utility vehicle - in which the driver had gone unconcious - away from oncoming traffic, the California Highway Patrol said.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Aimee, Timbuk2 have been high on my list. I think I need one of the larger bags, though. I have a lot of shit to schlep.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That GG bridge story made my eyes sting.

Compassionately intolerant

Scary Eyes McDonough.

Love him.

BLESS him. I know a lot of people who take that bridge daily. BLESS him for not thinking too much.

I'm with ita in the stinging eye corner. That kind of selflessness gets me more than anything else.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I think I need one of the larger bags, though.

I really really want a custom one for the next baby. I have to save my pennies, though. With the fabric and everything I want, it's over $200.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Question for librarians: I made a purchase suggestion for a book I wanted to read that's been out for about a year, and clicked the tickybox for interlibrary loan if it wasn't selected for purchase. I then received a bookstore gift certificate, happened to find the book in question in stock, and bought it instead, figuring that SPL would buy the book for its collection where other readers would enjoy it, because at least 90% of my suggestions for purchase get purchased.

The book in question just showed up in my holds queue as an interlibrary loan request, but it's not yet in transit. I could cancel it, but I have what is probably an irrational fear that this will make me look like a Bad, Annoying Library Patron and keep them from fulfilling future ILL requests for obscure research tomes I can't get my hands on any other way. So, should I cancel the request, or wait for the book and check it out for a week or two?

Circulation is always good for a library. and good for a book. But in all honesty - cancel the hold. Even if you were truely a pain in the ass we will try and fulfill your requests - it is what we are supposed to .

With respect to the badass bible verses, a) cracked.com's on fire these days, and b) this is a very succinct point often overlooked these days, especially by SG1:

You can raise all the intellectual challenges you want about faith and the origins of the universe, but at the end of the day, you have to worship the god who can set you on fire.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I was on call at the bookstore tonight, and it turns out they need me, which makes me happy, since I need the money for Christmas shopping. I'm on call again tomorrow, and am keeping my fingers crossed that they'll need me again. I've got my usual 8-hour shift on Saturday, and I'm taking a half-day PTO from here on Friday, so I'll be able to catch up on my rest that day.

Cancel the hold. Nobody will hold it against you, and ILL costs $$, so if you cancel before it ships, you save them the trouble.
