Played with Kaylee. Sun came out, and I walked on my feet and heard with my ears. I ate the bits, the bits stayed down, and I work. I function like I'm a girl. I hate it because I know it'll go away. The sun goes dark and chaos has come again. Bits. Fluids. What am I?!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

CaBil, it was the Botany Bay, wasn't it?

x-post! and, re TOS, they STILL didn't get it. Is there a word for those who go along, blithely ignoring anvils being dropped around them?

Um, me?

For example, I must have re-read "The Lion, the witch, and the Wardrobe" seventeen-thousand times, and knew all about Jesus dying and coming back to life and atoning the sins of people, and still had to have the connection pointed out to me, when I was twenty or so.

Nilly (waves), I'd take that more of a cultural thing - it's not something you've been taught from childhood, so not seeing it is understandable.

No, I totally knew the story and its importance (it was just an interesting story), and even when I was much older, enough to understand who was the little kid at the end of "The Selfish Giant", with "on the palms of the child's hands were the prints of two nails, and the prints of two nails were on the little feet" (which was censored from most of the translations of the story into Hebrew, but that's another matter). I just need things spelled out to me.

(Um, is that the time to re-tell the story of my first ever Buffistas post, which was about what other people complained to be anvils, and me being grateful for them?)

[Edited for context, and to thank you for the vote of confidence.]

Punishingly Intricate

Hasn't HIMYM always had a laugh track? I remember it turned a lot of people off the show when it first premiered.

Yes it has and that's why I watched the pilot and then didn't come back until, like, the last episode of last season. It still bugs the shit out of me but the show is too funny to miss.
