When we landed here you said you needed a few days to get space worthy again and is there somethin' wrong with your bunk?

Forsyte Saga is on. OMG I love Damian Lewis so much.

With a glance, Soames just creeped out Irene in Jane's gallery. Awesome. He's remarkable.

(aaaaaand their kids just fell in love. oh crap. poor Soames)

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Hivemind Question--outside holiday decorations: what do you do? Lights, wreath, nothing, huge animated displays? Now that we have a house I want to do something, within the bounds of me being an athiest and the husband being Jewish. I may not believe in God, but I do believe deeply in festvity.

I'm dealing with having to decorate the outside of the house for the first time too, Robin. I'm thinking spruce garland around the door with white twinkle lights and a wreath on the door. It's tasteful, easier to put up and take down, and it doesn't involve me having to get on a ladder.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm a wreath person--simple yet festive.

Hmm... you have a bungalow, right? Craftsman?

Line everything in white lights, all those wonderful architectural features and proportions can dress up.

Maybe candles in the window, lights on the walk... festival of lights.

Or, you could go all gingerbread house. Love those.

me too. I have a balcony now! I think I'll just put some nice white lights on the railing.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I don't do a lot of outside decorations mostly a wreath. But I have a huge kitchen window that I like to make a little more festive looking- I put somefancy lights/lanten around it-and clean it up a bit,so it looks less like a junk shop.

I'm thinking of putting a tree on my porch this year. I don't have the room inside: the dog bed takes up a lot of living-room floorspace; but I do have a pretty sizeable glassed-in front porch. And it'll be my first Christmas home in several years, so I'm sort of inclined to decorate.

I woke up at 2 am with horrible cramps, and am now dosed on ibuprofen and not wanting to leave the house. The dog does not find this endearing.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I like a nice string of colored lights along the roofline and a wreath.

My dad, however, took a painting of Jesus he bought from his neighbor and literally bolted it to the front of the house. Then he got busy in his workshop and cut-out a bunch of plywood Santa and elf figures and painted them and stuck them all around the lawn.

Do not follow my father's example.

Yikes, Hec! I love the white lights outlining the house, but I don't think that's gonna fly this year--too much move-in work yet to do. I like the wreath door/garland idea--I gotta see how we get power to the front door. I so love dealing with the early darkness of winter by decorating with lights and I want to find a way to do something.
