Is it ironically funny to anyone else that the city assessor couldn't find her way out of my freaking office?

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
IME, Mr. Fry is right. But maybe I know lots of candyasses.
I really don't have the experience to say that this this true or not. Anyone else?
I have actually found this to be true.
I can count on one hand the number of people I've been able to truly 'get down to it' with in an impassioned debate that does not eventually turn into something personal.
And frankly, the numbers of times in any given week I have to give the 'but what that person said couldn't possibly be about YOU" speech to my clients cannot be counted.
When I've traveled, sitting around the table talking about the news of the day was such a joy in England, Scotland and Denmark...it showed in sharp contrast just why we 'joke' about the forbidden topics in 'polite' conversation in this country. Politics, religion, money and sex.
It feels to me as if we are so afraid of the impact of other people's views of ourselves that we'll go to any length to avoid opening ourselves up. The sad fact is, at least in with the work I've done with clients, that the imaginating of what someone else thinks about you is much, much worse than the actual fact.
This is really gross for an x-ray: [link]
“Young male was holding a homemade explosive device. The fuse of the device was lit, and the patient was unable to throw it away before it detonated.”
Yeah, I've found the same. We really have trouble with friendly arguments around politics in this country.
“yes, but that’s just arrant nonsense, isn’t it? It doesn’t make sense. It’s self-contradictory.”
That doesn't sound friendly to me, no matter the topic. Especially when I imagine it in an English accent!
We don't talk about politics in my family, after my grandmother went on this whole rant about GWB and how could anyone vote for him and who are these people, and my aunt finally said that "these people" was her, because she had voted for him.
day-um...that xray needs to be optioned to CSI or something.
Yeah, I've found the same. We really have trouble with friendly arguments around politics in this country.
As a result, I think we really lose out on some terrific learning/understanding opportunities.
I'm terrible at debating, I want to make sure that what I say is accurate so when someone throws out the "fact" that say global warming isn't really happening, I don't really want to respond unless I can cite something.
Speaking of disturbing x-rays.
What's that inside? A motor? Is that a Mr. Squirmy?
