Where do you go for a good argument? Or good abuse?

There probably is a site at www.goodabuse.com, but I'm not going there.

There's an interesting case going on at a public school not far from us.

A group of five high school kids had pictures on a MySpace page that depicted them with guns, drugs, and money. The pictures were reported to the school, the school suspended the five students. (I'll bet you can see where this is going...) Now, the parents of the students are suing the school district for various things.

In one of the articles (Ann Arbor News, Jo Collins Mathias), one of the students attorneys is saying, essentially, that the school system is breaking the law blah blah blah legalcakes.

I say, "Well, so are the FUCKING KIDS HAVING GUNS AND DRUGS."

The kids claim it was all fake, the school says, "You can see their school ID's AND some of the pictures were taken on school grounds."

To which I also say, "How did the freaking fake guns and drugs get onto school property???"

Anyway, it's slow in here lately, my boss is gone, I want to fuck around, and thought I'd start a discussion.

You know if the school ignored the pictures and these kids went Columbine on the school, then someone would have pointed to those MySpace pictures and say "someone should have done something".

Without knowing the background, I'd probably say the school has reason to suspend them if there is evidence they were doing something inappropriate on the school grounds. If was just something the students did outside of school, then I don't think the school would have reason. It's hard to have a real definite opinion on a particular case without knowing all the details though.

OTOH, schools have suspended (and I think expelled) students for stuff done off-campus outside of school hours....
