No, Simon said the school was supposed to be good. But he was worried enough to become genuinely crazed with fear for her, and they just completely disregarded all of his concerns about her. They just ping me wrong, that's all.
Well, the program was supported pretty high in the Alliance, so I imagine that there might be pretty impressive political benefits.
Also, while the parents are very concerned with Simon's standing and career, there seems to be very little concern with River. Didn't she disappear for something like 3 years?
