I remember being on board in a fuckyeah sort of way when Mal kicked Crow into the engine. Never saw the ads. I heard of Minear telling the dark Inara tale, but had chalked that up to shit in his head that hadn't made it to future scripts yet, and didn't realize that the networks had awareness of this development. And honestly I never found myself onboard with this idea. Not to say that my reaction is right, there's a huge difference in reading an idea and seeing it executed.
Firefly 5: That's my girl... That's my good girl.
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe.
Yeah, I don't think "Inara gets gang-raped by Reavers" is a story that ever needed to be told.
I was appalled at that story and am rather glad it was never done.

I do remember that I was eating when that episode aired and I literally choked on my dinner. And yeah, the show had my devotion at that point too.
Ditto, Matt.
I was turned off the by TV ads and had to be talked into watching the show by a friend who pretty much forced the DVD set into my hands.
Ditto, except it was dragged to the movie, then we did a marathon of all the DVD's.
Wow, omnis. Was that when you joined the board? Because I can't imagine being on the board and not watching it, at least for a few eps (I know some Buffistas never quite took to it, much like Dollhouse).
Mal kicking Crowe into the engine caught my attention, but I wasn't hooked until "Our Mrs. Reynolds."
Firefly had my attention when Mal got thrown through a holographic window in a bar fight. I was in love when Serenity rose up behind the crew. I was hooked when Mal kicked Crowe into the engine.
