Mal was flipping channels in the hotel room and came across Castle and squealed "MOM! It's MAL!!! It's Captain Mal Reynolds!!"

He also just watched Serenity. I was concerned, as Wash is his favorite character, and really he thinks the show was largely about Wash. "Wash, the cool ship his flies, and some other people."

But he did OK.

Sister fell asleep half way through episode. She liked it, but not her thing. Didn't hold her attention enough. But, it was fun pointing out what shows everyone is in now.

I thought the beginning with the war stuff would put her off, as her hubby dominates the clicker in her house, and watches far too many war movies. She's not a sci-fi person. Or a westerns person.
