I love seeing everyone all happy and laughing.
Oh, I remember how masterful I thought this was, how you came in right in the middle of the camaraderie and the comfort, and just how everything is *working* and it's just such a great thing. You don't hear the story, so you don't have to judge it on that, you just react to how they're reacting.
Like how someone is scary because everyone's scared of them, not because you're told how scary they are.

I vaguely recall someone, maybe Tim, saying that Mal was originally conceived to be a decade or so older than Nathan Fillion, but they couldn't NOT give Nathan the part.
