I worked with Greg Itzin (magistrate higgins) a few years back. He's actually super nice, just gets cast as creepy jerks a LOT

Yup. Every time i see him on TV i know he's gonna turn out to be super unsympathetic (see also: Medium). He owns that casting wierdness, but only on TV and in films. In stage productions he gets more variety. his wife thinks it's rather funny, and is thankful that he gets cast as much as he does, regardless of the type.

His character seems pretty sympathetic on Big Love. He's an antagonist, but not creepy (and that show does play up the creepy when it wants to).

I didn't make it past the first season of Big Love. The only character i liked was Barb (and her little red-haired girl) so i stopped watching because it made me angry.

I can understand that. I'm pleased to see Itzen playing non-evil, but I wouldn't try to persuade you to wade through the series just for that.
