All is well that ends in pizza.

My mom had trouble sitting through the battle scenes in Serenity.

My next attempt to get her hooked will involve The Train Job, Saving Seranity for after.

But that's just her and war scenes.

Thrive to spite them

I tried to get my dad to watch Firefly and he was good with it until he realized what Inara did and the scene with her and a client, then I lost him because he's not about to watch any kind of hookers in space.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

My mom had trouble sitting through the battle scenes in Serenity.

did you tell her that was the one of only two war flashbacks she would have to view?

askye, I got nothing (unless you push the idea that Mal keeps calling her a whore!!!! and being all judgicakes?)

My girlfriend hates science fiction and "war movies" so I started her with "Out of Gas." She loved the interpersonal relationships in that episode, and after that she was happy to put up with "guns in space" in order to learn more about the characters. As she said "It's not even about space, it's about these people who live in space. They could be living in El Paso."

"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

I do love this thread! I'm with everyone else for aired order and yeah at some point I agree we should plan around holidays. Out of Gas and Objects in Space are my favorite episodes hands down.

Aw hell... I just realized my DVDs are in Greensboro (NC). Luckily I know a Target here that sells them. I'll just let the loaned copy be my loaning copies. Totally worth it.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

"It's not even about space, it's about these people who live in space. They could be living in El Paso."

This could not be more true.

...maybe I'll try starting my parents out on Out of Gas.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I never realized how Out of Gas could work as a pilot.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I lent my DVDs to a coworker, who wasn't much of a sci-fi fan, and she came back after watching a few eps with her husband and said she was surprised how quickly she came to care for the characters.

Everyone I ever lent the show to came back to me with stories of how they weren't allowed to cheat on their SO's with Firefly by watching without them.

Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

It's my firm belief the first 10 minutes of Serenity (the pilot), even revised, are the weakest of the series. It's a bunch of characters we don't yet care about, doing random stuff, talking chinese, making no sense... I only really got a grip on Firefly when Kaylee got shot, as *everything* was going on at that moment, the characters were coming out and somebody got almost killed. You're invested by then.

Comics are pushed back to first quarter 08 at the minute. They're written, awaiting inking.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I never realized how Out of Gas could work as a pilot.

Yeah, there are some double takes that don't work then, because you don't know the characters, but I think that while they're funny, they're less important to the show as a whole.
