I hate to break it to you, oh impotent one, but you're not the big bad anymore, you're not even the kind of naughty.

when i die, please bake my ashes into a brick and use me to hit fascists.

Sorry I missed out, guys. It's been an insane week! (wait, I knew "Serenity Found" was coming, and yet, I don't have it yet! And I can't spend any more money on myself till after Christmas!)

I think this might be my very favourite episode (though I think that about every one). It starts with a bar fight, and ends with them kicking the bad guy through the engine; what's not to love! Plus, lots of funny, and action, and honorable deeds, and burqas, and chickens. I so adore the whole scene where Inara is breaking Mal and Zoe out. I also love how the holographic bar window is such a mission statement for the show.

So many favourite quotes:

  • "This is why we lost, you know. Superior numbers." "Thanks for the reenactment, sir."
  • Hey, them ain't kosherized rules!"
  • "This is another sign of your tragic space dementia, all paranoid and crochety. Breaks the heart."
  • "Whimsical in the brainpan"
  • "And what happened in the engine room? Was it monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?" (and there's the compression coil again!)
  • "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?" "That it was manly and impulsive?" "Yes, precisely, only the exact phrase I used was don't."
  • "I've just got an image of a guy hanging from the ceiling." "I've got an image of it not being me."
  • "Sir, I think you have a problem with your brain being missing."
  • "Hell, this job I would pull for free!" "Then can I have you share?" "No." "If you die, can I have your share?" "Yes."
  • "What are we doing?" "Crime!"
  • "These are stone killers; they ain't cuddly like me."
  • "Whatever happens, remember I love you." "Sir?" "Because you're my wife." "Right. Sir. Honey."
  • "You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with till you understand who's in ruttin' command here!"
  • "You can't change that by gettin' all...bendy."
  • "Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?"
  • "His story had kind of an odor to it." "Yes. It's not the only ting about him that does."
  • "We tried to get him into the infirmary...he's just...heavy."

where did all those typos come from? It wasn't even late!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Reminder for some, FYI for others, there were a lot of quotes collected in The Quotable Firefly thread, now archived as the last thread listed in the Firefly section of [link]

Browse for fun and nostalgia....

By the way, are Nilly's selected Firefly quotes archived anywhere? Her commentaries are here, but I couldn't find the quotes.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I think those commentaries are her quotes. I mean apart from random postings in the threads.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Aw. Sorry I missed it, again. Work has been eating my life. I fell in love, I think, when Mal got tossed through the holographic bar window. No, that was deep like. Love was when Serenity came up behind them and scared all the bad guys away. Or maybe it was when Jayne said something to the effect of, "Dumb fuckers, can't tell a freight ship ain't got no guns on it!" and I realized they'd totally bluffed their way out of trouble. I loved how Inara the prostitute was the most respectable person on the whole planet. She's Miss Kitty (from Gunsmoke) in Space, and I love it. And then when Mal kicked the guy through the engine, I knew I was completely hooked.

I will try to be here Wednesday for Bushwhacked, but I may be en route to Virginia about that time.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Did we ever reach a consensus as to whether or not we're doing a watch and post this week, due to the holiday? Or are we putting it on hold until next week?

I'm available, but I don't know how many other people are.
