I came away thinking that the impalement wasn't necessarily targeted.
me too. It felt like Joss was saying, "no one is safe here. They all might die."
Discussion of the Mutant Enemy series, Firefly, the ensuing movie Serenity, and other projects in that universe.

I think that was the point. I know I spent the rest of the movie thinking "Joss is a fucker. They're going to lose! THEY'RE ALL GONNA DIE!"
'cause, you know...Joss is a fucker sometimes.
Amen.
A wise, brilliant, self-actualized fucker...but fucker none the less.
Oh, absolutely. I know *I* spent the rest of the movie after Wash *whimper* in complete and utter terror for My Crew.
funny. I often think/say/IM away message "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar"... sometimes I hope for an errant tree log. Alas, Joss isn't my creator. I should be so lucky ;)
I remember during the CSTS preview screening things in 2005 loads of people were claiming Wash got killed by a boulder.
Did anyone start the hype for the "Objects in Space" WnP tomorrow? I just brought home a 14 week old Newfoundland puppy tonight; at the moment he's laying quietly at my feet but I can't promise he'll be conveniently quiet during showtime tomorrow night. But I'll try to be here.
I just informed my gaming buddies that I will be taking a break from hacking up skeletons between 7 and 7:40 tomorrow. There was grumbling but I'll be here!
Morgana! Puppy! I bet he's adorable!! And ginormous!
(Congrats on the new pup.)
sumi, at the moment he's not too big -- I'm guessing he's about 25 pounds or so. (Tomorrow I'll set up an appointment at my vet, and once I get him in there I'll get him weighed and know for sure.) But I can still pick him up, although I know that won't last for too much longer. My Gabriel, at his peak weight, was 162 pounds. So it will be interesting to see how large this guy grows. (Oh, the new puppy will from this moment forward be known as Connor -- no correlation to Angel's whiny son intended whatsover, I assure you.)
