Jayne: There's times I think you don't take me seriously. I think that ought to change. Mal: Do you think it's likely to?

"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

Oh no, totally agreed there as well. I guess it was just dramatically needed for the uninitiated people watching the movie.

"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

It's always fun ya'll. Next week is War Stories! Who's up for it?

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Oh yeah. Despite the torture bits, which I never enjoy, I do like that episode.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

I missed you guys tonight, but should be here next week. I'm kind of surprised that AnotherAlaskan didn't make it tonight. I'll razz him about it tomorrow.

"I am the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world"

Yeah drag him in for next week if you have to. It's too good of an episode not to have a good crowd for it.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

Anybody else think he would have let him die up until Jayne asks him to make something up?

Oh, yeah. I think Mal was fully prepared to let Jayne get sucked out into space.

It was the "make something up", the acknowledgment that Jayne was ashamed of his actions enough that he didn't want the others to know what he had done that convinced Mal that there was hope for Jayne yet and earned Jayne the reprieve. Without that moment of shame...Jayne goes 'plooey out in the Black.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I think Mal was hoping Jayne would say the right thing but he was going to space him if he didn't.

I might be a few minutes late for War Stories but I'll be here.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Missed the W&P again, gorram it.

It's just that at the beginning of the movie he's practically hostile towards Simon. And while the two of them have never been best buds, that hostile relationship felt really, really wrong.

All it would have taken was an explanation that Simon and Mal had a serious falling out when he started bringing River along on jobs and it wouldn't have been an issue. They hinted that might be the case, but a little more explicitness that Simon had been more integrated once upon a time wouldn't have hurt.

The events of the Serenity 3-issue comic might also have made Mal less than pleased to have the Tams on board (though how that was any worse than having Jubal Early sicced on them I don't know).
