I'm betting that has something to do with a recent announcement by, I think, Warners that would go exclusively with BlueRay as their hi-def format choice. It's pretty much seen as the beginning of the end for Hi-Def in the BlueRay vs. Hi-Def format war.

A friend of mine saw a player at Best Buy that will play either hd or bluray. ($8000.00 or thereabouts.)

Which is surprising because I always assumed HD-DVD would win. I mean, it has HD and DVD right there in the name! NAME RECOGNITION, right?
According to the home theater geeks I know, Blu-Ray is the preferable high definition format. Also, it was first and Blu-Ray vs. Hi-Def is seen as the equivalent of DVD vs. DIVX, with Hi-Def being DIVX (minus the pay-to-play aspect that doomed DIVX from the start).
Plus blu-ray discs can store a LOT more data
I won't be around for the watch and post this week. The PC that I use for that is non-functional; I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to get it working again by next week. Have fun!
