Spike's Bitches 38: Well, This Is Just...Neat.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Wow. Scarf is all but done. It goes from fingertips on one hand to the edge of the palm on the other. I wanted fingertip to fingertip, but I'm almost out of yarn on one of the strands. Tomorrow CuteGraphicsGirl will show me how to cast off and add the tassel ends.

So. I bought my own set of needles and a thing of yarn. And I attempted to cast on from what little I remember. So I'm a couple rows into the black scarf, and the thing is all twisty and I can't seem to untwist it. It's like one side of a DNA chain. Um. Any clue what I did wrong? Any way to undue it? Or should I just pull it apart and start over? I suppose CGG can give advice (and laughter) tomorrow.

Why am I still up? Jeez it's 3:30am. Oy. OK. Night.

I'm not sure, but it sounds like maybe your stitches might be too tight?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

o_a, did you put the scarf down in the middle of a row at one point? If you were only a few rows in, it may be possible that you twisted the knitting.

Our wings are not tired.

I am without knitting knowledge.

I'm sorry for your loss, Karl.

{{Sean and S}} I do hope you find the morning report encouraging.

My memories of pulic school seem to indicate that creationism had no place in the public school system, at least not before 1987. Why do you think that was?

I went to Catholic schools and they didn't teach creationism. Apparently a newfangled notion.

I've lived a few places, but all along the east coast. Never had an issue with meeting people, but I can be pretty forward about that stuff. The hardest place was Richmond. It was a pretty closed society so I only got close to people on campus.

I decided the whole no carb thing just doesn't work for me. I miss my oatmeal and fruit. So I had a banana and oatmeal this morning, and tea. Whee!

Because it's religion, not science, and we weren't yet enthralled to the crackpots?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Bananas and oatmeal constitute an extremely wise and healthful breakfast choice, Laura. Yum! (looking askance at my Holiday Inn Express free breakfast of "bacon," "bagel," and cinnamon roll.

Oh, Karl. I'm so sorry for the loss of your uncle Tim.

Tom, my cousin L, and I were discussing the whole concept of the viewing/wake. Tom opined that it seemed scientifically calculated to cause the maximum amount of pain to spouses or children of the deceased, having to sit next to your loved one's corpse for hours and having to comfort others. YMMV, of course. And my aunt and cousins bore up well but... still. Wow.

{{S and Sean}} I hope she gets sprung from the ER soon. I'm glad you've got your family there too.

Jars - Dec 17, 2007 3:22:59 am PST #8622 of 10002

I think I prefer viewing the corpse. It's so very obvious that the person isn't there anymore, at all, when you do. Whereas when you don't, the goneness is a more abstract idea, which makes it a bit harder to process, I think.

ETA - Nora, I hope you're doing okay, and that things are as easy as they possibly can be for you and yours.

Hi Nora, how are you doing this morning?

Did people get hammered with snow? It's chilly here this morning, kinda nice.

Doing pretty well this morning- off for the funeral stuff shortly.

I guess Boston got hammered- it was less snowy here, but still pretty messy.

Jars - Dec 17, 2007 3:54:16 am PST #8625 of 10002

A tiny petty part of me is hoping Boston gets totally hammered and flights are cancelled and DH won't be able to go home for Christmas, and he'll have to stay here with me. I am a bad person.
