Cordelia: I get it now. You're all spies. Probably all Russian. And you've brainwashed me, and want me to believe we're friends so I'll spill the beans about some nano-technology thingy that you want. Gunn: So I look Russian to you? Cordelia: Black Russian. Angel: That's a drink.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Stephanie, a friend of my dad's once had his handgun confiscated because he failed to do just that.

If I were ever to obtain a handgun without knowing its provenance, I would certainly have the serial number checked out, just in case. If it was used in a crime and was needed as evidence, it wouldn't mean the loss of the gun. Just that the police would need it for a while and you could get it back.

Ooh, "Fairytale of New York." Definitely one of my favorites, but alas probably not playable in my classroom. Curses!

In other news, I made a kickass snowman blueprint, with multiple assembly views and a parts list, and my students are totally not impressed. How lame!

Please do not contact me again.

This is what I tend to go with, and it usually works.

Ok. That’s wicked cool. What’s the matter with your students?

Could someone please explain to me why it’s going to snow EVERYWHERE I’m driving through tomorrow and Friday, and then on my way home on Sunday it’s gonna add wind? Why? Why???? I want to go away. I need to go away. I don’t want no snow and wind getting in my way.

Emily, can you check e-mail right now? If so, I'm going to send you something that needs a fairly quick answer.

Trust my rage

a friend of my dad's once had his handgun confiscated because he failed to do just that.

Do you mean failed to check who he was selling to or failed to check the past history of the gun? Of course there are always exceptions but I know that one of the main objections to current gun laws is that anyone can legally buy a gun from a private party (or at a gun show) without a background check.

My other gun story - when I was 18, my boyfriend gave me a gun for my birthday. After a few years, I was tired of having it and hiding it from my parents. I had heard about those gun turn-in programs so I called my local police station and asked if I could turn it in. They sent a cop to my house who told me that I could legally sell it to anyone but if I turned it in, they would just chuck it in a room and it would never be seen again. He then indirectly suggested that he'd be happy to take it so I gave it to him. I handed it over to him in a restaurant parking lot so he wouldn't have to come back to my house.

Of course, some nosy neighbor turned me in to my parents, but not for a few weeks and since it had been years since I'd had the gun and the boyfriend, my parents weren't that upset.

Nope--he was travelling and didn't get licensed to carry a gun in the states he was travelling through. He got stopped for speeding and was searched (he was a scruffy looking Harley dude) and his gun was confiscated because he wasn't licensed to carry a handgun in Ohio.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Big company Christmas party last night, and Daniel got off work early so he could meet me there (I was on duty, taking care of clients while at the party). Sad to say, Daniel was sometimes more help with them than the other staff member who was on duty with me. It's that kind of thing that makes me fall a bit deeper for him.

That and the fact that he sometimes stashes emergency chocolate rations for me. So sometimes when I say, "Gosh I wish I had some chocolate, but I was being all noble and self-denying last time we were at the store," he reaches into a cupboard or drawer and pulls out one of my favorite kinds of chocolates.
